Participle clauses

1) Present participle
While he walked home, he read a book 
Walking home, he read a book                                                           time(s)
   
Because they don't know anyone, they have to find somewhere to stay
Not knowing anyone, they have to find somewhere to stay                       cause

2)Perfect participle
When they have found a hotel, they usually go out to eat
Having found a hotel, they usually go out to eat                                     time(d)
Because I have come to NZ, you have met a lot of strange people 
Having come to NZ, you have met a lot of strange people                        cause

3)Past participles
As it was written by an American, it gives an accurate picture of life there    
Written by an American,it gives an accurate picture of life there                  cause
